With regards to hearings there are two that I will be focusing on, the accelerated misconduct hearing and the GM hearing. I'll be honest with you, both of these are as bad as each other. On one hand you have the Accelerated hearing which is greatly expedited in comparison to the Misconduct hearing. On average a gross misconduct hearing investigation will take a little over 300 days. The Accelerated hearing can be weeks to months, which means you have shorter time to gather evidence for your defence and so forth.
For both you need to be mentally prepared for all of the things the barrister will throw at you, they will frame you as the worst human possible. My advice would be, do not give anyone the ability to tell you who you are, cultivate a support system. Whether its family, friends, partner or me!!! Make sure you have a place to vent and room for catharsis, DO NOT SPEAK TO THE DPS!!!!
The set up of the hearing can vary but generally it will look like a court room dynamic. There will be the chair (commander), LQC and one other person. The LQC is the independent advisor but unfortunately they no longer have the power to make the final decision. Unfortunately your decision will be in the hands of the police commander, who may or may not be aware of their bias.
May the force be with you
